The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story, a recent Lifetime Channel film, details Kara Robinson’s kidnapping tale.

This Saturday, February 11, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET, Lifetime Network will host the film’s world premiere. The film’s cast also features Brandon Carl McEwan, Robert Nahum, Cara Buono, Kristian Bruun, Katie Douglas, and Cara Buono.

The official synopsis of the Lifetime movie reads:

“While in her best friend’s front yard, 15-year-old Kara Robinson was approached by a man who put a gun to her neck and forced her into his car. He would go on to take Kara to his apartment where he held her captive and s*xually assaulted her for 18 hours. While he was asleep, Kara escaped the restraints and his apartment.”

It continues:

“Even though it was the middle of the night, Kara was able to lead the police back to the apartment’s exact location and identify her captor, a serial killer who was also responsible for at least three other unsolved homicides.”

Since the news of the movie’s release, viewers have been anxiously awaiting to learn what happened to Kara’s kidnapper Richard Evonitz.

Richard Evonitz’s three additional crimes include robbing Kara Robinson in broad daylight and kidnapping her on various occasions.

1) Before moving in South Carolina, Richard Evonitz worked in the US Navy

Richard Marc Edward Evonitz, also known as Richard Evonitz, was a sailor of the United States Navy who was born on July 29, 1963, to Tess Ragin Evonitz and Joseph Evonitz. After quitting his job as a manager at Jiffy Lube, he enlisted in the Navy.

He had two marriages. His second wife, Hope Marie Crowley, followed his first wife, Bonnie Lou Gower. He finished his stint in the American Navy, moved to South Carolina, and started working for an air-compressor company.

2) Richard Evonitz took Kara Robinson hostage in the open

On June 24, 2002, Evonitz pulled over in the middle of the day and, brandishing a revolver, opened fire on Kara Robinson, a 15-year-old girl. After that, he kidnapped her and put her under duress inside a plastic bag that was kept in the trunk of his car.

The teenager was then driven to his South Carolina flat by him after he left the scene.

3) In his flat, Richard Evonitz sexually raped Kara, a 15-year-old.

Evonitz imprisoned Kara in his flat for 18 hours. He repeatedly s*xually abused her while forcibly drugging her.

Fortunately, Kara was bold enough to flee his flat as soon as he dozed out. Then Kara asked a few other people in the parking lot to drive her to the closest police station.

4) Kara Robinson was not the only victim of Evonitz

Richard Evonitz was successfully identified by the police thanks to the information Kara was able to provide about him. As the authorities performed a thorough investigation into the man, additional startling information came to light.

According to reports, Kara wasn’t his only victim. He had more victims in the past and was a ruthless killer in addition to being a kidnapper. He abducted and killed Sofia Silva, a 16-year-old from Spotsylvania County, on September 9, 1996.

In addition, the man abducted two sisters, Kati Lisk, 12, and Kristin Lisk, 15, and killed them by cold-blooded strangulation.

5) He committed suicide after being apprehended by officials

He was gone when the cops went looking for him in his flat. The cops finally located him in Florida on June 27, 2002. But he shot himself in the head before they could take him into custody.
