A group of “bogans” reportedly started brawling during a performance in Perth by American comedy star Dave Chappelle.

During Thursday evening’s show at the RAC Arena, Chappelle was understood to have been telling the crowd about the moment he was famously tackled by an audience member in 2022 when the fight started, The West reported.

Chappelle’s strict ban on audience members bringing their phones to their seats means there are no pictures or videos of the commotion.

Attendees on Twitter praised the way he handled the interruption.

“I was most impressed with how quickly he got the crowd back,” one guest tweeted.

“Dave Chappelle showed me he is the GOAT in Perth tonight and an absolute professional. Shame some bogans in the crowd decided to have a fight half way through his set,” another person said.

Some members of the crowd however thought the brawling may have been part of the performance.

“About halfway through the set, there was a lot of yelling, swearing, and commotion coming from one of the top-tiers up the back,” a guest told The West Australian.

“When he realised a fight had broken out, he cracked a joke about their crappy behaviour, before quickly moving on,” someone else said.

“It was an awesome show and luckily wasn’t ruined by the brawl. Dave Chappelle and the arena staff handled it really well,” another wrote.

Chappelle on Friday was spotted arriving at a private jet hangar at Perth Airport following the ordeal.
